I’m one of the lead vocalists in an “Afropolitan Fusion” band called Soulfège and I just came across your post about the band & our illustrious leader DNA. Who is your sister that went to Harvard? The 3 of us all went so I’m sure we know her!
Anyway I wanted to give you a heads up on our latest project. On July 15th Soulfège released the digital version of our new record “Take Back the Mic,” which is our statement on the power of music with meaning.
The album was recorded in Accra, Boston, NY, LA & Kingston and as such we are particularly interested in reaching out to our “Afropolitan” community. I was wondering if you might be interested in writing a review of the album. If so, I can send you a private link where you can download the tracks for free.
Soulfège (’sOl-fezh) has had an incredible year w/ multiple award nominations and some wonderful media attention, in addition to a viral YouTube sensation surrounding bandleader, Ghanaian native Ashong (aka DNA) and his informed response to an aggressive reporter outside the Obama Clinton debate in LA. You can learn a little more about him from this bio video and more about the band from this recent Vanity Fair Article:
Let me know if you’d be willing to spread the word on your blog and if there are any other outlets, blogs or email lists you think we should reach out to. Thanks a bunch for your help and I hope to hear from you soon.
Hello and thanks for the comment! :] My sister went to high school with Derrick, so he probably does not even remember her! And ee went to the same church in Cherry Hill which my cousins still attend. I recall my sister coming home from school and pretending to be all cool, because she knew someone who was in Amistad. We were all like, “Please! You probably have only talked to this boy once in your life!” Haha! I did try to convince her to get booed up with him though, so that perhaps I would one day have a wealthy brother-in-law… Alas, the Lord had other plans.
Anywho, I would be very interested in listening to and reviewing your music! I loved the “Sweet Mother” video. And I would be glad to blog about it also. You can reach me at tesseracts at comcast dot net. Best of luck!
